Car history: |
This particular car is a true, 46,000 original mile car that comes with the correct, numbers matching 427/390 horsepower V8 and automatic transmission. Finished in red with a tan soft top and black interior, the car looks stunning with its original style rally wheels wrapped with white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/As. The car has gone through a mild, cosmetic restoration that included new paint and tan soft top. Both of which look great. No tears to the soft top or staining to the rear window. The paint looks great with no imperfections. No stress cracks to be found anywhere on the body. Both front and rear bumpers look great and are said to be original for the car. No pitting, dents or major damage on either. The same goes for the correct 2 piece rocker moldings. The interior of the car is said to be all original and in excellent condition. Both seats look great with no major wear to be found. Carpet is good as well as the dash which shows no buckling or cracking. Door panels and kick panels are all equally as nice with no major wear to be found. All gauges are in good working order as are the lights, blinkers, wipers, horn and AM/FM radio. The only thing that we have found that does not work is the original clock. 1968 engines were carried over from the previous generation but a new, optional automatic transmission was introduced. The new 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic was ordered in 5,063 cars in 68 and this was one of them. Coupled with the original 427 Cu In, 390hp V8 the car is a blast to drive and is full of good old American torque. The engine is original for the car (IQ) as is the 4bbl Rochester carb (7028216). The motor is very clean and unmolested. Options under the hood include power steering and power brakes. This is a very solid example of a low mileage 1968 Corvette that performs as a 46,000 mile car should. The underside of the car shows no rot and is very solid with only a thin coat of undercoating. The original spare tire is still under the car! Currently the mileage shows 46,924 and is said to be original for the car. 46,924 miles from the odometer. Motor pad shows T0103IO. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is F10. December 24, 2010. |
